Summer goes in summer

Its my sixth year in Canada! That's about one-tenth of my expected length of life. People talk about three Ws in North America,-- Wife, Wealth, and Weather. I can't comment much about the first two Ws, but the weather here certainly is unpredictable.

I am from a country where summer means summer. Temperature rises there as high as 42 Degree Celsius in summer, and goes as low as 10 Degree in Winter. I never saw drastic change in temperatures during the summer months. If weather office predicts that it will be 28 in the morning and 30 in the afternoon, it will, more or less, be like that.

The part of Canada that I am living in, has an entirely different weather pattern. Even in summer, it may start off with 10 in the morning, go as high as 35 around midday, and decrease sharply towards 14-15 in the evening. That's a change in temperature!

The other day, it was super hot at noon, mercury rose up to 35, with humidity index being 42 (i.e., 35+ the humudity= feels like 42 Degree Celsius). Skin gets burnt if you are in the sun for 15 minutes. Sun block lotions are a must for people working outside or if you are going to beaches.

The very next day it went below 20! Amazing, huh? See the snapshot from the Environment Canada's website for Windsor, ON, on early hours of July 18 2009.

Summer sunshine seems to be over, and Fall is sneaking in rather untimely. Days are gloomy, hazy. The sun is visible, though, behind the misty clouds and the air spreads the smell of Fall.

Flowers are gone for the season, except a few large Daisies, and Red and orange Lilies which are at their fag ends of lives.

Summer is going in summer with all its intense hue.

Sigh!
